Reading Matters

Reading Matters is Australia's leading youth literature dedicated conference and program. Reading Matters fosters a sense of community, builds awareness and knowledge, creates fun and excitement, and connects writers with their readers.

The seven day program features;

  • Two-day professional program for youth literature professionals. Featuring a diverse roster of speakers, the program will look at professional practice, youth reading trends, diverse storytelling and young adult content.
  • Schools Program featuring international and Australian young adult authors and artists, hundreds of secondary students meet the writers, and learn about a range of different genres and storytelling perspectives.
  • Public Program showcases YA writers alongside fandom communities to celebrate youth literature with innovative, inclusive programming.
  • National Tour Program gives regional youth a taste of Reading Matters on the road.

My programming (school, public and tour programs) prioritises the teen readers and non-readers, recognising that engagement can be harnessed from connecting and creating.
